Lanzhu holds the dubious "honor" for being the first School Idol to receive a lot of enmity due to her on-screen behavior, and not suffering from her consequences caused by her actions, such as taking over the School Idol Club and creating the School Idol Association. As her English name is written in Mandarin and her songs feature more Mandarin than Cantonese, it is highly likely that she has roots from Mainland China. Despite the claims that she came from Hong Kong, Lanzhu's nationality has more hallmarks of a Mainland Chinese person than a Hongkonger given her frequent usage of Mandarin Chinese, and her songs are more reminiscent of Mandopop than Cantopop. Unlike Kotori, Lanzhu flaunts and abuses her status for all its worth in the earlier story chapters.
